Agoulos Beach Hotel

Location to the sea, and Argasi town, beautiful view, convenience of having pool bar, reasonably priced, clean pool. We took the bus to Zakynthos town, bus stop 5 mins walk, bus was 30 mins late but it will turn up. 😅 Taxi back was 10 euro. There are some pretty disparaging, and unjust reviews in my opinion. I went with the knowledge that this is a family run hotel, no frills etc, so I was not expecting 5*. Our room was 3rd floor, basic but clean, room cleaned every day with fresh towels. The bathroom is small and showering far from perfect but functional. We had the lovely clean pool to ourselves pretty much, always plenty loungers, which are in the 2 garden areas not round the Pool itself. I spent lot of time in sea, totally quiet and crystal clear water. The rooms/hotel could use some updating, but if such renovations took place, no doubt would push the price up! I would avoid the ground floor rooms from what people say. The rooftop restaurant is very pretty, tapas style food, pricier, but worth a visit for something more fancy, we were happy with the pool bar food though! If you want a chilled laidback vibe, no frills and reasonably priced, I would recommend. If you want a 5* experience then book one of the much more expensive hotels nearby!

The whole staff was lovely - I have to highlight the receptionist lady. She was incredibly kind, helpful, and gave us fantastic recommendations on where to go, what to see, and how to get around easily. She genuinely made us feel welcome from the very first moment. Plus, she’s absolutely beautiful – inside and out! My favourite thing about our stay was that the sea is literally just a few steps away – the water is crystal clear and ideal for swimming anytime. The garden and the pool area were also clean and very pleasant to relax in. We also loved the outdoor bar by the pool – the cocktails were delicious, and the owners, who run this as a family business, were extremely kind, friendly, and welcoming. There are great restaurants close by, and the pedestrian street is about a 10 minute walk away. We’re very glad this was our first experience in Greece. This hotel gave us what we hoped for – a relaxing, friendly, and beautiful holiday experience in Greece. Thank you for everything!

Agoulos Beach Hotel is exactly what you hope to find on a Greek island – calm, authentic, and perfectly located. The beach is literally in front of the hotel, and yet you’re just a short drive from Zakynthos Town. You can start your morning swimming in crystal-clear waters, spend the afternoon exploring the island, and finish your day with dinner on the rooftop watching the sunset over the Ionian Sea. It’s a perfect balance of peace and adventure.

From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel genuinely welcome. Everyone greeted me with a smile and was eager to help — from suggesting local tavernas and hidden beaches to quickly responding to small requests like extra towels or a taxi call. There’s something special about Greek hospitality, and here it shines brightly. You can tell they care about each guest personally.
